SAN
(Storage
Area
Network)
SAN
(Storage Area
Network) Is
a hard disk storage
device
that
is set
up with
its own
network
address
rather
than being
attached
directly
to
the
computer that
is serving.
The
purpose
of a SAN server
is
to
store
large
amounts
of
data
over
a network
enabling
multiple
users
to share
the same
storage
space
simultaneously.
Clients
can
then
all access
the SAN
as
another
drive
on
the
network,
which
can
be
set-up
to
have different
permission levels
and access.
The
difference between
a SAN storage device and a
SAN storage device
is that a SAN
storage device
saves in block format while
a SAN device saves
in file format.
One
advantage
of a SAN is
that
it is
capable
of
storing
files
regardless
of
operating
systems,
allowing
a
network
consisting
of
clients
using
a
range
of operating
systems
to all
store data
to
a
single SAN
server.
Another
advantage
of
a
SAN
is that
overheads
are reduced
because
all
storage
is
centralised.
SAN
systems
can
be
built
up
to
24TB
of
storage
capacity.
All
of
our
SAN
systems are
fully
customisable
to
your ideal
specification.
