Typically Direct Attached Storage (DAS) as the name suggests are disk drives or a disk subsystem which is either in the same enclosure as the server or an external unit attached by a short cable. Direct Attached Storage (DAS) is normally connected to the server which ‘owns’ it, by a SCSI bus. There have been many technologies used to actually connect the disk to the computer, the most common are SCSI, IDE/ATA, Fiber Channel and Serial ATA (SATA).

This is typically a ‘Just a Bunch of Disks’ (JBOD) configuration and managing how the data on the disk drives is organized is under control of the server.

We provide a range of Direct Attached Storage Storage Servers (DAS), scaling from entry level units based on Serial ATA (SATA) technology with 2TB (Terabyte) through 12TB capacities. Our DAS servers include redundant power supplies and have a choice of hardware RAID levels including RAID level 0, 1 (10), 5, 6 and JBOD.

CyberStore 316 DAS – SCSI to SATA Direct Attached Storage

The CyberStore 316 DAS is a direct attached storage system that provides up to 12TB of RAID storage. It connects to one or two servers via an Ultra 320 SCSI cable. Linux, UNIX, Windows and Apple servers are supported. The CyberStore 316 DAS provides complete hardware based RAID storage. All that is needed is an Ultra 320 SCSI adapter in the host server and an Ultra 320/160 external cable.

The CyberStore 316 DAS Direct Attached Storage RAID storage system incorporates dual-host channels and separate-bus architecture with a state of the art Intel IOP321 400MHz 64-bit processor. The CyberStore 316 DAS features dual Ultra 320 LVD SCSI host interface and reliability and functionality of Serial ATA disks. It offers mission critical, fault tolerant designs that include RAID levels 0, 1, (10), 5, 6 and JBOD, hot-swappable drive bays, redundant power supplies & fans. It also features a user friendly LCD for quick setup and monitoring, maximizing data protection to keep your application running 24/7.
