2U rackmount servers present the best use of space while keeping your expansion options available. Offering up to 12 x 3.5" drive bays or 24 x 2.5" drives bays, 2U rack servers offer 3 times more storage capacity than a 1U Server can offer.
2U servers can fit Low Profile PCI-Express and PCI Cards Vertically so you can install up to 8 cards in a 2U Server (subject to model). If you need Full Height and Full Length cards, then some 2U servers have Riser Cards to mount Full Size cards Horizontally in the Chassis allowing up to 5 Full size expansion cards to be fitted using a riser card.
With multiple power options available including DC power and Redundant Power Supplies, short depth 2U rack mount servers are also available allowing the server to be fitted in small spaces like Vans, Yachts, Vans, Buses or small cabinets and cupboards.
2U Servers are often quieter that 1U servers as the fans are larger and as such can spin slower whilst maintaining the same amount of airflow.
With 2 or 4 independent servers in a 2U chassis, twin and quad 2U servers are available. Each independent system can be dual processor giving 168 separate processors in a 42U cabinet.
2U Front i/o Port Servers are also available giving all the ports that you would expect at the back of the machine have been reversed so they are at the front of the machine. This can benefit customers that access the ports on a regular basis, and is also popular when the systems are installed in very small spaces and vehicles when there is no easy way to get to the back of them.
