OpenIndiana, a fork of the discontinued OpenSolaris, is a strong OS that works as great storage server software for your Broadberry CyberStore storage appliance. It features a powerful package manager (IPS) for the updating of existing software and installation of new ones.

Setting up OpenIndiana requires some technical knowledge, but you don’t need to worry because our talented Broadberry engineers are on hand to complete the full installation process for you if you wish.

OpenIndiana uses the ZFS file system. The scalability is almost endless, as this 128-bit file system can manage up to a billion zettabytes of data. So, no matter how large your hard drive space is ZFS is going to be able to manage it.

The ZFS file also features maximum integrity. Everything that you do in ZFS will use a checksum to ensure the file integrity.

Your files along with their redundant copies are protected from silent data corruption.

OpenIndiana is an open source OS, which enjoys all the usual advantages of being open source. It is completely free to use, eliminating the financial outlays you would usually have to make for software of this quality.

With OpenIndiana, you get freedom and flexibility. You have access to the source code allowing for you to make changes that better fit the software to your needs. You also avoid being locked into a contract and are able to switch systems whenever you want.

Open source often means more reliability as there is a large developer base behind software like OpenIndiana. Thousands of experts are behind the maintenance and improvement of open source technology. If there are any issues that arise, you can be sure that the open source nature of software will lead to much faster and more effective solutions.

Being open source software, OpenIndiana inherently has an advantage in security efficiency. Due to the source code being readily available for anyone to view, security holes are less likely to be left unresolved.

This software is actively maintained and updating through rolling releases. The large user base diligently reports bugs and flaws within the software, after which they are promptly dealt with and resolved.

Our CyberStore Storage Appliances feature full compatibility with all major storage server software. This very rare feature is something you are unlikely to be able to find anywhere else. The majority of storage server providers only feature compatibility with one software, leaving you with no choice but to stick with the operating system the system came with or buy a whole new storage server.

With our open-standards based CyberStore Storage Appliances, you're free to choose whatever major software you want to run on your box.

We never vendor lock our storage servers. You will be able to use whatever 3rd party hardware you want. Other brands in this industry tend to vendor lock, limiting you to only being able to buy from them or their partners.

Instead of being able to use 3rd party software that could be cheaper and more suitable to your requirements. This issue is something you will never have to deal with when you buy from us. Our CyberStore Storage Appliances feature 3rd party hardware compatibility.

Over the last three decades Broadberry have built up a reputation of being high quality storage server providers. Our hard work and dedication have allowed us to maintain a high standard of excellence in our service.

It is this excellence that has, in the past brought us internationally acclaimed clients such as the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Sky, Toshiba, Toyota, Disney, NASA, Cern, ITV, Tesco and the BBC.

Multi
Award-Winning

Year-after-year, the Broadberry CyberStore range of unified storage appliances has beaten the likes of Dell and HPE to be crowned "Best Storage Appliance" by PC Pro magazine.

Outstanding
Value

When compared to the likes of DELL, HPE, EMC etc, the Broadberry CyberStore range of enterprise-grade unified storage appliances is up to 60% cheaper, although using the same quality components such as Seagate drives and Kingston RAM.

Compatible with your
Favourite Software

The Bradberry CyberStore range has been built from industry-leading commodity hardware, and carefully designed to ensuure full compatibility with leading storage operating systems and database engines.

Lower Cost, Same Components

Broadberry enterprise storage appliances are on average 86% lower cost than EMC and 55% lower cost than DELL although built using the same leading-brand server components such as Intel processors and Samsung memory. HPE hard drives are rebadged Toshiba enterprise-class drives, the exact same models as found in Broadberry storage appliances.

Hard Drive Caddies Included

When you buy a Broadberry storage appliance all drive bays are supplied with caddies - so if in 6 months time you decide to expand the storage you can source it freely from the marketplace or ourselves if you wish. The only way to add hard drives to HPE servers is to buy the drives along with caddies from HPE for 200% the price of Broadberry's price.

No Ongoing Licence Costs

Broadberry storage appliances come with enterprise-grade features like IPMI included, whereas HPE charge large fees for perpetual licences for the same features.

Instant, Accurate Quotations

Our website allows you to configure your server online with accurate prices, as opposed to NetApp who require several face-to-face meetings with them before they'll give you a price.

Market Moving Away from Tier 1 Vendors

Over recent years there's been a massive move from the world's largest organisations such as Google to purchase their servers from the likes of Broadberry rather than DELL and HPE. This move is fuelled by the rise in commodity hardware.
